Broadstreet Under 9’s Rowan O’Malley competed in his first powerlifting competition this weekend and cemented his place as one of the strongest kids on earth with a record breaking total of 230kg.

Squat 82.5kg
Bench 42.5kg
Deadlift 105kg.

9 from 9 lifts, all technically sound, with two personal bests and plenty more in the tank.

Rowan aims to squat 90kg, bench 50kg and deadlift 115kg before he is 10 in October. His long term goal is to be a professional rugby player.

Rowan’s dad Ben, who coaches the under 9s said ‘I’m very proud of my son’s achievements. He’s been training since he could walk, and he has previously been crowned the UK’s Strongest Kid at 6 years of age. He’s very determined and we train together at Barbell Training Complex in Warwick. We can’t wait to start work on his next milestone targets.’
