Life member Mick Sheehan sadly passed away on 4 May 2024 aged 83. Mick was born in Dublin on 18 April 1941 and was the eldest of four. He moved to Coventry with his parents when he was four and attended St Elizabeth’s and Bishop Ullathorne where he made lifelong friends. He began an apprenticeship at Coventry silversmiths as a teenager and later moved onto Austin Morris as an engineering inspector. It was here where he was set up on a blind date with a red head called Barbara who would ‘never change’ him but less than two years later they were married! 12 years later their only daughter and child Kelly came along. Mick later moved to Dunlop aviation when the Morris closed down and he worked there until he retired at 60. He has spent the last 23 years enjoying his free time fixing up his precious MGB, laying his hand to any DIY project his girls would throw his way, being Dad’s taxi and most recently being entertained by his two Grandchildren Dexter and Caelan.
Until the lockdown of 2020, Mick was a loyal supporter of ‘The Street’ after briefly playing himself. He used to attend every home match and many away matches too and he and a group of lifelong supporters were affectionately coined "The Muppets" and would drink in "Muppets Corner". On Sundays “The Muppets” would frequent The Greyhound as regulars. Even after lockdown he made sure his son in law Stuart would follow Broadstreet on social media and
fill him in on the scores.
Mick was a proud, yet fiercely honest and loyal man. He would light up the room with his cheeky smile and dry sense of humour and loved to be a wind up. Mick leaves behind a heartbroken but proud family and with lifetime of happy memories’.
