Head Coach Job Description

About the Club:
The Street are a well-established Level 5 club based in Coventry and playing in Regional 1 Midlands. We have both excellent facilities and pitches, which provide a fantastic environment for rugby. The club are seeking to fill the role of Head Coach for the 23/24 season and then further recruit a team of coaches to both support and continue to build on the strong foundations we’ve established in the past few seasons. It is essential to our club that the ambitions for on field success are based around player development, player recruitment and continuing to promote player participation across all levels of our club.

Purpose:
To lead the Coaches and Players from June to May each season. Lead the planning and delivery of the club’s playing ethos, training sessions and match day activities. Agree the squad and player development outcomes and ensure all are engaged.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan and lead Training sessions and oversee matchdays.
• Structure the strategic team vision and matchday tactics and patterns of play.
• Create an environment that stimulates and promotes player pathways and development.
• Retain existing players and work to recruit new players at all levels.
• Continue to build the team culture/spirit and encourage participation.
• Develop individuals’ skill set, confidence and fitness levels.
• Set team standards, codes of conduct and core values.
• Manage the senior Rugby Budget including travel, equipment, and physios etc.

Person Specific:
• England Rugby Coaching Award – qualified to Level 3 or a minimum Level 2 or working towards it (the club will support this).
• Experience of leading, planning and delivering coaching sessions and analytical information (team and player specific).
• Player centred / matchday approach to coaching and player development.
• Good knowledge and understanding of up-to-date coaching practices and laws.
• Must be self-motivated and prepared to improve through relevant CPD events/courses.
• Experience of player recruitment (not a requirement but preferred). The club would like to as an attractive opportunity for talented players in the local area.
• Work effectively as both part of a team and as an individual.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be committed to Tuesday and Thursday nights training and weekends as required to fulfil the role.
• Must have a Full driver’s license and a DBS check will be required.
